Resumo:
The authors present the resolution of a special case of decentered capsular bag, several months after phacoemulsification of cataract with foldable IOL and a capsular tension ring placement, in a patient with Marfan’s Syndrome.
We performed a second surgery to place a modified capsular tension ring sutured to the escleral wall, without compromising the integrity of the capsular bag. The presence of a previous capsular tension ring and IOL in the bag, did not interfere with the placement of the second endocapsular ring.
Using this technique, a good centration of the capsular bag and the IOL was easily achieved with substantial benefits to the patient and low level of inflammation.
We conclude that the use of modified capsular tension rings is a practical and efficacious way to correct postoperative decentered capsular bags.
